Men's Golf in Seventh Place at NCAA Stanford Regional

STANFORD, Calif. – Junior Pablo Ereño shot a 4-under 66 to lead the Bruins in the second round of the NCAA Stanford Regional at Stanford Golf Course on Tuesday, moving up to the No. 7 slot on the individual leaderboard.
 
The UCLA men's golf team finished in seventh place through the first two rounds of the three-day NCAA Stanford Regional.
 
The Bruins shot even par on Tuesday, with Ereño at 4-under 66 and sophomore Kyle An at 2-under 68. An had shot 1-under 69 on Monday, the first day of action, and moved into a tie for 20th on the individual leaderboard.
 
Junior Omar Morales finished 1-over 71 on Tuesday, while freshman Luke Powell fired a 5-over 75. Morales is currently tied for 33rd. Rounding out UCLA's five golfers on Tuesday was freshman Luciano Conlan, who shot 9-over 79.
 
Ereño moved up 12 spots on the leaderboard, totaling six birdies and two bogeys on the second day of action at Stanford. He birdied three of his first eight holes, as the Bruins opened the morning on the back nine holes.
 
An had five birdies and three bogeys on Tuesday, closing the afternoon at 2-under 68.
 
Through two rounds, the Bruins have posted a team score of 3-under (277, 280), heading into the third and final day of competition on Wednesday. UCLA currently trails fifth-place SMU (10-under, 285, 265) and sixth-place Stanford (7-under, 269, 284).
 
The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams, through Wednesday, will advance to the NCAA Championships, which will take place at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
 
The Bruins will return to action on the second of three consecutive days at Stanford Golf Course on Wednesday, May 15, at 8:55 a.m. PT. UCLA will open on the front nine holes on Wednesday.
