May 14, 2024

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After collecting 13 wins in their last 16 tries, including a string of four consecutive triumphs over ranked teams, the University of Utah softball team received votes in the final USA Today/NFCA Top 25 poll, which was released on Tuesday.

The Utes started the season ranked in all four top 25 preseason polls, rising as high as No. 13 and now have regained national recognition thanks to a strong finish to the year that saw their record improve to 34-20 during their 13-3 stretch. That run also helped Utah earned a spot at the NCAA Durham Regional, the program's second consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament. The team's first contest of the tournament will happen on Friday against South Carolina at 10 a.m. MT.

The Utes are one of seven Pac-12 teams either ranked or receiving votes, led by No. 6 UCLA and No. 8 Stanford. Washington is ranked 13th, four spots ahead of Arizona, and California sits at No. 21. Oregon received votes.
