Buster Posey Award Semifinalist

Wichita, Kan. – The Wichita Sports Commission announced the semifinalists, including Stanford's Malcolm Moore, for the Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award.

A selection committee made up of Division I Baseball Coaches, Sports Information Directors and Major League Scouts selected the sixteen catchers from 69 nominations submitted by Division I college schools.

Moore is joined on the list by Pac-12 backstops Ryan Campos (Arizona State) and Caleb Lomavita (Cal). The native of Sacramento, Calif. is batting .251 with 40 runs scored, seven doubles, a team-best 15 home runs and 35 RBIs. He has drawn 42 walks while posting a .407 on-base percentage and a .536 slugging percentage. Defensively, Moore has thrown out 31% of potential base stealers.

The finalists for the Buster Posey Award will be announced June 6. Those three catchers will be invited to Wichita, Kan. with the winner being announced June 26th during the Greater Wichita Sports Banquet and Buster Posey Award presentation.

The National Collegiate Catcher of Year Award was established in 2000.
