Comeback Falls Short As Dawgs Close Out 2024 Season

May 22, 2024

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Washington bowed out of the Pac-12 Tournament on Wednesday with a 6-5 loss to Arizona, ending the Huskies' 2024 season.

The Huskies conclude the season at 19-31-1.

Toughing out the start despite still being hampered by injury, Jared Engman received the loss, allowing four runs before exiting in the third inning.

After Engman struck out the side in the first, AJ Guerrero put a charge into a pitch and sent a two-run bomb over the right field fence to put the Dawgs on top early.

Arizona countered in the second with a leadoff home run to cut the lead in half and added a three-run blast in the third, taking the lead at 4-2.

Three straight singles in the sixth added another pair for the Wildcats, but Washington punched back with a Jeter Ybarra double and a Carson Ohland single to in their half, cutting the deficit in half at 6-3.

The Huskies plated a pair on RBIs from Braeden Terry and Aiva Arquette to make it a one-run game but it wasn't enough, closing the door on the 2024 campaign.
