Washington junior-to-be Braiden Ward has been named a starter for the Cape Cod All-Star West Team. The Huskies' centerfielder will represent the Wareham Gatemen in the game on Sunday, July 21 at Orleans.
University of Washington head baseball coach Lindsay Meggs announced that former Husky player Elliott Cribby is returning to his alma mater to join his coaching staff. Cribby, who lettered three times at UW from 2006-08, will serve as the Huskies' Associate Head Coach, Pitching Coach and Recruiting Coordinator.
Four Huskies will be playing baseball in the Cape Cod League to highlight a large contingent of University of Washington players that will showcase their talents around the country this summer.
Four more current Washington players and one future Husky heard their names called in the final day of the Major League Baseball Draft on Tuesday and in the process a school record was tied.
Washington battery mates Nick Kahle and Josh Burgmann were selected in the second day of the Major League Baseball Draft on Tuesday. Kahle, a junior catcher from Simi Valley, Calif., was selected in the fourth round, 133rd overall by the Milwaukee Brewers, while Burgmann, a redshirt-sophomore right-handed pitcher from Nanaimo, B.C., was selected in the fifth round, 162nd overall by the Chicago Cubs.
The Pac-12 Conference has named Washington outfielder Mason Cerrillo as the 2019 Pac-12 Scholar Athlete of the Year. The award has been established to honor the top senior student-athlete that are standouts both academically and in competition.
