The UW pair of senior Calina Schanze and junior Tabea Schendekehl won the women's collegiate pairs competition and the Huskies' top entry in the women's collegiate eight won its race Saturday at the Head of the American regatta on Lake Natoma.
Washington's women's rowing team will send a large contingent of rowers to the Head of the American this Saturday. The Head of the American is held on Lake Natoma, the annual home of the Pac-12 Championships, and frequent site of the men's and women's national championship regattas.
Washington Rowing is rich in tradition. From George Pocock and Hiram Conibear, through innumerable championships and Olympic regattas to the present-day successes, the UW men's and women's programs have plenty of reason to be proud.
Former Washington coxswain Katelin (Snyder) Guregian '09 led the United States women's eight back to the top of the rowing world Sunday as the Americans won gold on the final day of the 2018 World Rowing Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
