Freshman sprinter Brendon Stewart really burst onto the track and field scene last year with a huge indoor season. He posted PRs of 6.66 in the 60m dash which ranked second among high school athletes and ran 6.28 in the 55m dash which ranked tied for fourth among high school runners. He won 55m races at the 2018 Virginia Showcase and the 2018 Millrose Games. Stewart is from Laurel, Md. and we had a chance to catch up with him as he took a break from studying for finals.
Allyson Felix, Eva Orban and Dan Lange received Heritage Awards and the 2018 team awards were presented at the annual USC Out of the Blocks Track & Field Banquet at the Town & Gown on the Trojan campus today (Dec. 2). The Heritage Awards are given out annually to recognize those individuals who have contributed to the great tradition of track and field at USC.
The Utah women's track and field team opened up its 2018-19 indoor schedule at the Weber State Winter Open Friday and Saturday. Freshmen Taylor Watson, Maya Lebar, and senior Raynee Helm-Wheelock highlighted the meet for the Utes as they each recorded times in the 55-meter dash to move them into first, fourth, and fifth all-time at Utah, respectively.
The Washington track and field team has picked up two more big additions to its 2019-20 freshman class over the past two weeks, as British decathlete Ollie Thorner and Virginia state cross country champion Sam Affolder have both signed their NLIs with the Dawgs.
