Assistant Coach Thomas Sutton joined the UW Coach Alan Murray's staff in 2017 and has since been integral in helping build the UW men's golf program. A former student-athlete himself, Sutton came from the University of Alabama at Birmingham as an assistant where he also was a fixture on the Blazers' roster from 2011-14. Murray and Sutton had a close relationship prior to the hire as he was Sutton's coach during his playing career.
Sophomore Paul Margolis competed in all eight events for the Huskies this season with a stroke average of 71.60. He posted three top 10 finishes, eight rounds sub-70 and 11 rounds under par. Originally from Cannes, France, Margolis came to Montlake and has proved to be an important member of the Huskies lineup. During the shortened 2019-20 season he opened with a tie for ninth at the Husky Invitational. He was the Dawgs second best finisher at the Maridoe Intercollegiate tying for 29th. He followed that with a tie for fourth at the Georgetown Intercollegiate that the Huskies went on to win as a team. Along with a tie for 8th at the Ka'anapali Collegiate he also tied for 12th at the Bandon Dunes Championship.
Junior Noah Woolsey really made a name for himself during 2019-20 as he was a PING All-American Honorable Mention after winning three tournaments, posting four top 10 showings and recording under-par scores in 13 of his 23 rounds. The junior led the team in stroke average at 70.6. After sharing the individual title to open the season at the Husky Invitational, Woolsey won his first outright title the following week at the Old Town Club Collegiate. He also took home a share of the title at the Georgetown Intercollegiate. In eight tournaments, Woolsey only finished outside of the top 20 once and was also the Pac-12 Golfer of the Month while earning GCAA All-District honors as well following the season.
NORMAN, Okla. – University of Washington junior Noah Woolsey has been named to the 2020 NCAA Division I PING All-America Honorable Mention Team, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced on Thursday. The last Husky to earn GCAA honors was Corey Pereira who was also a honorable mention selection in 2016.
SeniorHenry Lee just capped off an impressive 2019-20 campaign as he led the team in rounds under par (14), posted five top 10 showings along with winning the Arizona Collegiate individual title outright. Lee finished second on the team in stroke average with his 70.78 and carded 12 rounds in the 60s including a 7-under 63 at the Old Town Club Collegiate.
