Pac-12 affirms Oregon State’s disciplinary actions

SAN FRANCISCO -- The Pac-12 Conference has reviewed and accepted the disciplinary actions taken by Oregon State University regarding men’s basketball student-athlete Jarmal Reid, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today. The University has suspended Reid a minimum of four games as a result of unsportsmanlike conduct during Oregon State’s game at Utah. Reid was involved in an on-court incident where he deliberately tripped a game official, was assessed a flagrant 2 technical foul and ejected immediately.

Reid will begin his suspension immediately and will not participate in Oregon State’s home games this week with UCLA (Wed., Jan. 20) and USC (Sun., Jan. 23), and will not accompany the team for road games at Arizona State (Thurs., Jan. 28) and at Arizona (Sat., Jan. 30).

“We commend Oregon State University and its leadership for taking swift and decisive action in response to this incident,” said Scott. “The Pac-12 strongly emphasizes sportsmanship and fair play in all its athletic competitions and expects high standards of sportsmanship from all participants. Regardless of Mr. Reid’s frustration and emotion, such behavior towards a game official is unacceptable and the Conference supports Oregon State’s disciplinary actions. The Conference will take no further disciplinary action.”
