USC Women's Rowing Signs Chiara Meakin

LOS ANGELES--The USC women's rowing team has signed Chiara Meakin, head coach Josh Adam announced today (Mar. 16). Meakin will join the other seven women who signed with the Women of Troy for the fall of 2021. 
 
"Chiara is the whole package, bringing both great academics and athletics to our team," said Adam. "Her relentless character stood out to us throughout the recruiting process. Her family has been so supportive of her joining the Trojan Family. We expect her to make an immediate impact upon arrival."
 
Meakin crosses the Atlantic to arrive at Troy from her home in Geneva, Switzerland. She has been rowing for her Swiss club, d'Aviron Vesenaz Rowing Club since 2014. She was a member of the Swiss National Team in 2019 and competed at the Coupe de La Jeunesse in the 4- and earned a ninth and a 10th place finish in two separate races.
 
Meakin has been competing at the Swiss National Championships every year since 2014. In 2014, she placed third in the U17 8+, then in 2015 she was fifth in the U15 4x. In 2016, she won the U15 4x and placed second in the U15 2x while only thirteen years old. In 2017, she moved to the junior U18 category where she won the 4x and placed sixth in the 2x. In 2018, she won the junior 4x and finished ninth in the 2x. In 2019, she won the Swiss Championship with the senior 8+.
 
Meakin hopes to make an immediate impact with the USC women's rowing team upon her arrival in August of 2021.
