Sun Devils' Win Streak Snapped At No. 12 Washington

SEATTLE -- The win streak for Sun Devil Volleyball came to an end on the road at No. 12 Washington as ASU fell in straight sets (25-16, 25-17, 25-16) on Friday night.

Notable Stats

  • Arizona State (13-11, 6-7 Pac-12) had its five-match win streak snapped against Washington (17-4, 10-3 Pac-12), falling to UW for the second time this season and third match in a row..
  • The block was a bright spot for ASU as the team out-blocked UW nine to four.. The block really picked up for the Sun Devils in the second set, earning six of their nine blocks in that set alone.
  • Junior outside hitter Iman Isanovic notched 11 kills in the match, her eighth match in a row reaching double figures. She also had seven digs.
  • Sophomore middle blocker Claire Jeter led all players in blocks with seven to go along with her five kills. 
  • The digs leader was sophomore pin hitter Marta Levinska with 13 total. Junior libero Annika Larson was second on the team in digs with eight. 
  • Sophomore setter Ella Snyder notched 24 assists and had five digs.

Set One: Washington 25, Arizona State 16
The home team jumped out to an early 10-5 lead, nine of UW's points coming from kills, to force a timeout from ASU. However, the run continued for the Huskies, making it six in a row to push their lead to 14-5 and bring another timeout from the Sun Devils. Arizona State put together a 4-0 run to make it 19-12, but the damage had been done. UW finished the set on a 3-1 run.

Set Two: Washington 25, Arizona State 17
An early kill from Geli Cyr put ASU within one, down 4-3, before UW went on a 3-0 run. Kills from Isanovic put the Sun Devils within two points at 10-8, but the Huskies scored three in a row to extend their lead to 13-8. Beatrice Badini came in and earned two-straight blocks to make it 13-10 before the home team responded again with a 4-0 run, forcing ASU's second timeout. The Sun Devils were unable to string together a comeback, falling 25-17. 

Set Three: Washington 25, Arizona State 16
The third set saw a similar flow as the first two. An early 8-3 lead for the Huskies forced a timeout from the Sun Devils. A 5-0 UW run made it 14-5, bringing the second ASU timeout. Behind two kills and a block from Jeter, Arizona State went on a 4-0 run to make it 17-11. Washington returned the favor, however, and scored five in a row to push its lead to 22-11. The Sun Devils put together one more 3-0 run late in the set, but the Huskies secured the sweep, 25-16.

The road trip ends at No. 21 Washington State on Sunday. The match will begin at 12:30 p.m. MST (11:30 a.m. PDT) and will be on the Pac-12 Network. Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, which means that Arizona will be one hour ahead of Pacific Time.
