Utah Lacrosse Wins Fourth Straight With 18-8 Win vs. Robert Morris

SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah Lacrosse team won its fourth straight game today to improve to 3-0 in ASUN games, beating the Robert Morris Colonials on Ute Field 18-8. Utah is 7-3 overall with just two regular season games remaining.

Utah was solid on both ends of the field, holding Robert Morris to just 18 shots on goal, a season-low for a Utah opponent with nine of the Colonials' turnovers being caused by the Utes. The Utes' 47 ground balls today was a season-high, ranking second all-time at Utah while their nine caused turnovers is the second-most they have posted in 2022.

On offense, the Utes out-shot the Colonials 63-34 with 33 of Utah's shots being on goal along with a season-high tying 12 assists. Utah's 18 goals today ranks second all-time at Utah in single-game goals with the 30 points also tying for second in program history.

GAME LEADERS
With a season-high five assists, Tyler Bradbury led the Utes in points with seven after scoring two goals for his sixth multi-goal game of the season. Jordan Hyde and Josh Stout added five points each with Hyde scoring five of Utah's 18 goals while Stout added a hat trick and two assists.

Samuel Cambere recorded a career-high nine ground balls against Robert Morris, adding a caused turnover and an assist with Cole Brams contributing eight ground balls and a goal. Josh Rose also recorded seven ground balls, a caused turnover and an assist with Joey Boylston turning in a strong performance of a team-high two caused turnovers and four ground balls.

Zion Dechesere was once again a force in goal for the Utes, finishing with nine saves on just seven goals against. He held the Colonials scoreless in the first and fourth quarters while he was in front of the net with eight goals tying for a season-low by a Utah opponent this year.

FIRST QUARTER BREAKDOWN
The Utes wasted no time getting on the scoreboard with Hyde scoring his first goal of the game with 13:49 after Ruben Santana found him open in front of the goal for a 1-0 lead. After a solid save by Dechesere, it would be Hyde once again on the corner of the crease with Bradbury feeding the shooter at 7:03 to make it 2-0.

The Utes would turn it into a 5-0 run to end the quarter with Cody Hart, Brams and Stout finding the back of the net for the first quarter shutout.

SECOND QUARTER BREAKDOWN
Utah would keep the scoring run alive in the second quarter with MJ McMahon scoring his first goal of the game, going low and to the corner on a pass from Santana to give the Utes a 6-0 advantage. Robert Morris would answer with its first goal of the game just second later, going on a run of its own to make it a three-point game with 5:42 to go in the half.

Bradbury would counter at the 3:23 mark with his first goal of the game, setting off another 3-0 run for the Utes with both Hyde and McMahon putting in their second goals of the game to close out the quarter with a 9-3 lead.

THIRD QUARTER BREAKDOWN
Utah would take a 10-4 lead with 11:38 left in the third quarter after Stout wound up from 20 yards out to sink one in the back of the net, but RMU would cut the Ute lead to four with under 10 to play. It would then be back-to-back goals from the Utes, including a 15-yarder from Hyde and Jared Andreala's eighth goal of the year to make it 12-6 with 6:42 on the clock.

Hart would put in his second goal of the game with under three minutes to play in the third quarter, followed by an incredible diving goal by Carson Moyer to give the Utes a 14-7 advantage with one quarter left to play.

FOURTH QUARTER BREAKDOWN
Two big saves by Dechesere to start the quarter would continue to give the Utes momentum on the other side of the field with Stout scoring his third goal of the game, running in from behind to dive across the crease to put the Utes up 15-7. Hyde would follow it up with his fifth and final goal of the game with 9:09 to play, putting Utah up 16-7.

Bradbury would once again use the angles in his favor by finding the back of the net with 5:59 left in the game with Andreala putting in Utah's final goal with 3:32 on the clock, leading to the 18-8 victory at home.
