PHOENIX, Ariz. – The USC baseball team fell 12-1 in its series opener at Arizona State on Friday night at Phoenix Municipal Stadium.
USC falls to 20-22 overall and 10-8 in Pac-12 play. The Sun Devils move to 21-21 on the year and 11-11 in conference action.
ASU scored five runs on six hits in the second inning and after five innings, the Sun Devils had a 9-0 lead. A three-run homer in the eighth capped the scoring for the home team.
Kevin Takeuchi finally got the Trojans on the board in the sixth, hitting a solo-homer to center.
Mason Edwards had a solid relief outing, giving up one run on two hits in 3.0 innings of work.
