Freshman sprinter Jan'Taijah Ford is from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. where she was a four-time state champion in the 400m. Ford has a personal best of 51.57 in the 400m and was named a 2019 high school All-American and the Florida Girls T&F Gatorade Athlete of the Year. We had a chance to catch up with her today.
Brian Herron is a freshman sprinter for the Trojans. He's from Decatur Georgia where he attended Lakeside High School. Herron ran on the U20 4x400m relay at the 2017 Pan American U20 championships in Peru. That relay team set a new world record. Herron is majoring in computer engineering.
The USC Track & Field program has added 18 newcomers to its 2020 track and field rosters, which includes the five signings announced during the original early signing period last December by USC Director of Track & Field Caryl Smith Gilbert. This talented group includes 15 freshmen and three transfers.
Nia Ali won a gold medal in the women's 100m hurdles and Dalilah Muhammad and Rai Benjamin earned a gold medal in the 4x400m relays in the final day of the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar today (Oct. 6). During the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships, Trojans claimed 10 medals, including seven gold medals.
