Due to her excellence on and off the court, Arizona women's basketball's Sam Thomas has been named Wildcats' female 2021-22 Tom Hansen Medal winner. Thomas completed both graduate degree in educational leadership (4.0 GPA) and undergraduate degree in psychology (3.97 GPA) at Arizona and was the 2021 Pac-12 Women’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She was a two-time CoSIDA First Team Academic All-American, the first multiple recipient in program history. On the court, Thomas a four-year team captain, three-time Pac-12 All-Defensive Team selection and Arizona’s all-time leader in games played (154) and minutes played (5,125), also ranks top 10 in school history in scoring, three-point shooting, blocks and steals.
