Sporting the top one-two punch in the country according to the latest Golfweek poll, No. 2 Albane Valenzuela and No. 3 Andrea Lee will lead Stanford into the 10th Bruin Wave Invitational, Monday and Tuesday at San Luis Obispo Country Club in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
Competing just down the coast from her family home in Hermosa Beach, Stanford junior Andrea Lee wanted desperately to claim her seventh collegiate victory in front of family and friends on Tuesday at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge at Palos Verdes Golf Club.
Stanford combined for a 5-under par score of 279 to charge into the second-round lead Monday at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge at Palos Verdes Golf Club. The Cardinal improved 16 shots from Sunday's opening round and posted the lowest total of the day by 10 strokes.
Southern California native Andrea Lee fired a 1-under-par 70 on Sunday at rainy Palos Verdes Golf Club to help No. 5 Stanford place second after the opening round of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge.
Junior Andrea Lee and incoming freshmen Brooke Seay and Angelina Ye have accepted invitations to compete in the inaugural Augusta National Women's Amateur, April 3-6.
Cardinal junior Albane Valenzuela was also invited but is unable to participate.
