SOCCER'S RIPMASTER BIG 12 NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK

Oct 7, 2003

BOULDER--Senior forward Orly Ripmaster was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week the league office announced Monday.  She joins Oklahoma State's Kathrin Lehmann and Jolene Schweitzer who received the league's defensive and offensive player of the week accolades, respectively.

A Harvard transfer and Boulder native, Ripmaster earns CU's third straight conference player of the week honor after netting her first (and eventually second) goal as a Colorado Buffalo, registering both in a Colorado 2-0 win at Baylor.  Playing just over a game and a half, she had four shots, and went 100 percent (2-for-2) in shots on goal in CU's wins at Texas Tech and at Baylor.

The scores were long overdue as her eight season shots on goal going into the Big 12 road swing included one that grazed the goal line against Seton Hall, one that hit a crossbar against Missouri and another header from point blank range that was denied against San Jose State.

Ripmaster and the rest of the 12th-ranked Colorado soccer team will host Minnesota in their last non-conference match of the season Friday at 4 p.m. at Boulder's Pleasant View Soccer Complex.
