Marshall Attending U-21 U.S. National Team Camp

Jan 17, 2007

LOS ANGELES - Nikki Marshall, standout freshman on the University of Colorado women's soccer team and the 2006 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, is currently at training camp for the U.S. Under-21 Women's National Team.

Marshall was the Big 12's leading scorer with 17 goals and three assists, and earned a slew of honors following the 2006 season.

It's the second year in a row that a Buff has been called into U-21 camp, as senior Katie Griffin got the call a year ago and was selected to the 2006 Nordic Cup team.  This marks Marshall's first invitation to a U.S. Soccer national camp.

This is the first training camp of the new year for the U-21 side, and has been underway since January 13 and will wrap up on the 20th at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. Twenty-six players have been confirmed with the possibility of two more being added. Just three players on the roster ? Cori Alexander, Brittany Taylor and Amanda Cinalli -- were on the USA's 2006 Nordic Cup team, which fell in the championship game to Germany, breaking a streak of seven consecutive Nordic Cup titles for the USA.

The U-21s scrimmaged the full Women's National Team in a pair of matches on January 15 at the HDC at 12 and 2 p.m.
