Buffs Kick Off Indoor Season At Potts Invite

BOULDER- The University of Colorado track and field program will start its 2011 indoor campaign at the Potts Indoor Invitational on Friday, January 21, at Balch Fieldhouse. The two-day meet will conclude on Saturday, January 22.

The meet will start Friday at 2 p.m. with the 60-meter hurdles of the women's pentathlon. Saturday's competition will start at 10 a.m. with the men's weight throw and the women's shot put. Running events will start at 1 p.m. with the men's heptathlon 60 hurdles. In total, the Buffs will have 20 women and 23 men competing at the first meet of the season in 21 different events.

Colorado will host several Front Range schools as Air Force, Colorado State, Colorado School of Mines, Metro State, Northern Colorado, University of Colorado-Colorado Springs, Western State and Wyoming will all send athletes to compete. There will also be several unattached athletes from the area competing.

This is the first meet of the season for the Buffs although some members of the sprints team competed unattached last weekend at the Air Force Academy's All-Comers meet. CU has a meet every weekend from now until the Big 12 Championship in Lincoln, Neb. February 25-26. The Buffs will compete at meets at the Air Force Academy, Seattle, Lincoln, New Mexico and other schools along the Front Range. The indoor season caps off at the NCAA Indoor Championship March 11-12, in College Station, Texas.
