Buffs Start Spring Season 1-1-1

Feb 28, 2011

LINCOLN, Neb.-The University of Colorado women's soccer opened its spring season with three 50 minute games on the campus of the University of Nebraska Sunday, sporting a mark of 1-1-1.

The Buffaloes lost to Nebraska 1-0, tied Iowa State University 1-1 and wrapped up the day with a 1-0 win over South Dakota State University.

CU found itself trailing by one to the Cyclones, but after losing its first spring contest, the Buffs were eager to get on the board. Sophomore midfielder Shaye Marshall got that job done for Colorado and the Buffs picked up the tie.

CU closed out play Sunday on a high note as sophomore Amy Barczuk, scored the lone goal in the shutout of the Jackrabbits.

"Our players got to play a lot and we got to see where everyone was on Sunday," head coach Bill Hempen said. "Some of our players have some work to do so we will get back to training this week."

The Buffaloes will host Colorado College in their only spring home game Thursday, March 3, at the indoor practice bubble located off Folsom Street south of Folsom Field. The contest will begin at 6:30 p.m.
