Buffs Start Spring Practices

Mar 10, 2012

BOULDER-The University of Colorado began spring practices on Saturday afternoon as the Buffs took the practice field in helmets and shorts to open Jon Embree's second spring session as CU's head coach.

It was the first of 15 spring practices that CU is allowed over the next 34 days per NCAA rules (not counting spring break). It also was the first of three scheduled practices over the spring to be held in shorts and helmets. Sunday's practice will also be non-contact as the players will again be in shorts.

For the spring, four practices will be in pads with no tackling, four will be in pads with limited tackling (50 percent or less), and four will be held in pads with tackling throughout.

Spring practices will culminate in the spring game on Saturday, April 14 at 5:00 p.m. which will be held at Folsom Field. All practices other than the spring game are closed to the public.
