Combined Events Kick Off Pac-12 Championships

BOULDER- The inaugural Pac-12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships will officially kick off this Saturday and Sunday, May 5-6, with the combined events portion of the meet at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.

The Buffs are sending four women and three men to compete this weekend. Brianne Beemer, Katie Dreher, Alyssa Frank and Genny Mayden will compete in the heptathlon, while Jason DeWitt, Adam Salzmann and Eddie Taylor will participate in the decathlon.

Mayden ranks fourth in the Pac-12 in the heptathlon with 5,171 points and Beemer is sixth with 5,158. Dreher, who put together a score of 4,983 points, is eighth in the league and Frank is 10th (4,844).

Jason DeWitt has the best score for the CU men with 6,671 and Eddie Taylor is 12th with 6,200 points. Salzmann has not recorded a full score this year, but his personal best is 6,899 points.

The combined events will start at 12:30 p.m. MST with the men's 100-meter dash on Saturday, while the first event on Sunday is set for 12 p.m. (men's 110-meter hurdles).

This four-day meet set-up allows for more of the combined events athletes to compete in other events the following weekend. The championships will continue May 12-13 with all other track and field events. A complete schedule and live stats are available at goducks.com and pac-12.org.
