2013 Pac-12 Media Day Preview: Utah Utes

Kyle Whittingham, 9th Year (71-32, 71-32 Career)

Has spent his entire head-coaching career at Utah, leading them to eight consecutive bowl appearances before 2012, carrying a 7-1 record in those games and is 2-0 in BCS bowl games...With the exception of 2012, has averaged nine victories a year since his appointment as head coach in 2005 and already has half of the 10-win seasons in Utah’s 118-year football history...His 2008 team set the school win mark, going 13-0 and defeating Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. The Utes beat four top-25 teams and finished as the nation’s only undefeated FBS team...Named National Coach of the Year by the AFCA and the Paul “Bear” Bryant Awards committee after that season.

Jake Murphy, TE, 6-4, 252, RS JR 

Utah’s top returning tight end led the Utes in touchdown catches (4) and yards per reception (10.6) as a redshirt junior in 2012...second on the team with 33 receptions on the year and third in receiving yards (349)...Earned an All-Pac-12 honorable mention nod, playing in all 12 games, including five starts...Recorded a career-high 78 yards on six catches against Northern Colorado...Reeled in four catches for 42 yards and a touchdown against Oregon State in top performance against Pac-12 competition in 2012...Played in ten games, with two starts, as a redshirt sophomore in 2011, collecting five catches for 64 yards and a touchdown.

Trevor Reilly, DE, 6-5, 245, RS SR

The one-time walk-on is third all-time in forced fumbles (7) for the Utes...An All-Pac-12 honorable mention in 2012, collected a team-best 69 tackles on the year, including 6.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, one fumble recovery and one interception...led team with three forced fumbles, good for 7th in the Pac-12...Started eight of 13 games as a redshirt sophomore in 2011...Registered 47 total tackles, nine tackles for loss (76 yards) and five sacks...Forced four fumbles on the year, tied for third-best in the Pac-12...In redshirt freshman campaign in 2010, saw action in 11 games with 19 total tackles, two sacks, 5.5 tackles for loss, and one blocked PAT.
