BERKELEY – Freshman wide receiver Jack Austin and redshirt freshman long snapper/defensive tackle Bradley Northnagel have been named the Jonathan & Judy Hoff Football’s Scholar-Athletes of the Week head coach Sonny Dykes announced Thursday.

“I appreciate the recognition for the hard work I’ve putting into my academic life,” Austin said. “It’s been tough balancing football and school, but I know it will pay off.”

“I want to thank the coaching and academic staffs for naming me scholar-athlete of the week,” Northnagel said. “I am tremendously honored to be given this title along with Jack [Austin]. We are surrounded by people that genuinely care about us off the field as well as on the field which motivates me to perform at my best academically and athletically.”

Each week two players earn the honor that recognizes student-athletes for an academic skill that has developed through practice, a study habit that has formed into an effective routine, a positive measured outcome that has been achieved through a course assignment or exam, and/or a leadership trait that has been portrayed through academics.
