Mariota: Pac-12 player of the week again

Sophomore quarterback Marcus Mariota was named Pac-12 offensive player of the week Monday, two days after leading the second-ranked Ducks to a 45-24 win at then-No. 16 Washington.

Mariota was named conference offensive player of the week for the second straight week, the first Pac-12 player to do so since kick returner Reggie Dunn of Utah and running back Johnathan Franklin of UCLA last season. The last Oregon player to be named conference player of the week in consecutive weeks was placekicker Paul Martinez in 2005.

Mariota accounted for 10 touchdowns in those two games, wins over Colorado and the Huskies. He was 24-of-31 for 366 yards and three touchdowns in Seattle, and ran for 88 yards and a score.

On the season, Mariota has accounted for 25 touchdowns with no turnovers. He’s fifth nationally in passer efficiency with a 182.40 rating, and sixth in total offense with 358.30 yards per game – despite having played in the fourth quarter just once in six games, against Washington.
