Colorado's Booker voted Pac-12 men's basketball Player of the Week

Dec 9, 2013

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - COLORADO junior guard Askia Booker has been named Pac-12 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for play from Dec. 2-8, the Conference office announced today.

The Los Angeles, Calif., native averaged 13.5 points per game over the course of the week as the Buffs earned wins over Colorado State and No. 6 Kansas. In the home upset versus the Jayhawks, Booker shot 3-of-6 from beyond the three-point line, including the game-winning shot as time expired to give Colorado the 75-72 win, helping CU stay unbeaten at home so far this season (7-0). He also went 5-of-12 in field goals and had three rebounds against Kansas. On the road against the Rams, Booker went 4-of-12 from field-goal range and 4-of-6 from the free-throw line, adding two steals, a rebound and an assist as CU won, 67-62. It was the first victory at CSU for the Buffs since 2007.

The award is Booker’s second-career weekly honor, with his first coming on Nov. 19, 2012. It is Colorado’s fourth player of the week honor all-time since joining the Pac-12.

CU remains at home this week with a matchup against Elon on Friday, Dec. 13 at 6:30 p.m. MT. The game will be broadcast on Pac-12 Networks.
