McCartney To Enter College Football Hall Of Fame Tonight

Dec 10, 2013

Bill McCartney will be inducted this evening into the College Football Hall of Fame; he's enjoyed two days of events in New York City ahead of the ceremony.

Over 75 people attended a private reception for "Mac" Monday evening, ranging from family members to former players, including two of CU's six previous Hall of Fame inductees, Joe Romig and Alfred Williams.  Former CU coaches were also in attendance, Gary Barnett and Mike Barry, along with athletic director Rick George.

"I got my training from two Hall of Famers, Dan Devine and Bo Schembechler.  Bo won more games over a 20-year period than any other coach in history, and that's where I learned that fame can come in an instant, but greatness comes with longevity.  It was a great privilege to have learned under these extraordinary leaders."

"This profession is about working with young men at the ages of 18 to 22, their formative years.
