Seumalo Named to Rimington Trophy Spring List

May 19, 2014

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State center Isaac Seumalo has been named to the Rimington Trophy Spring Watch List, it was announced Monday. Seumalo is among 64 nominees honoring college football’s best center.

Seumalo, a Corvallis native and son of OSU defensive line coach Joe Seumalo, has started all 25 games in which he’s played in his two-year career. The junior was recently voted by his teammates as one of four teams captains for the 2014 season.

Because the selectors of these three All-America teams can place centers in a “mix” of offensive linemen that includes guards and tackles, their 11-man first teams can often have two centers. The Rimington Trophy committee’s policy is to count all players that play primarily the center position for their respective teams as centers, even though they may be listed as guards or tackles on the four All-America teams.

The center with the most first team votes will be determined the winner. If there is a tie with first team votes, then the center with the most second team votes will win. If there is still a tie, the winner will be determined by the majority vote from the Rimington Trophy committee.

The winner will be recognized at the Rimington Trophy Presentation at the Rococo Theatre in Lincoln, Neb. on Saturday, January 17, 2015.

Oregon State returns to the practice field in preparation for the upcoming season Aug. 4 with the season opener Aug. 30 at Reser Stadium against Portland State.

Deposits are being accepted for 2014 OSU season tickets for home games that include Portland State, San Diego State, Washington State, Arizona State, California, Utah and Oregon.
