Nick Wilson carries Arizona past pesky UTSA

Sep 4, 2014

Arizona entered tonight's game against UTSA with starting running back Terris Jones-Grigsby fresh off a huge game but on the injury list. Freshman Nick Wilson made that a non-issue against the Roadrunners, carrying the ball 30 times for 174 yards and a touchdown in his first start.

The 5.8 yards per carry gave Rich Rodriguez's team enough offense to clip the pesky Roadrunners, 26-23. How important was it that the youngster had a big game? Quarterback Anu Solomon didn't make mistakes, but he also struggled to find a rhythm in his second game as a starter.

So, as the defense took until the fourth quarter to find its mojo, Wilson carried Arizona on his back. Now, he's put Rodriguez in a decision-making position moving forward: Who gets which carries when Jones-Grigsby is back and healthy?
