California's Hallisey voted men's soccer player of the week

SAN FRANCISCO - The Pac-12 Conference announced CALIFORNIA’s Connor Hallisey as the Pac-12 Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for play from Sept. 8-14.  

Hallisey (Granite Bay, Calif.) helped the No. 18 Golden Bears to two wins, totaling seven points in two matches. In a 6-1 win over Cleveland State, the senior scored two goals and posted two assists. He had a part in the first three goals of the game for the Bears, assisting on senior forward Stefano Bonomo’s first two goals and scoring when Bonomo set him up with a square ball inside the area in the 59th minute. In the 67th minute, Hallisey dispossessed a Cleveland State defender and finished for his second goal. On Sunday against Gonzaga, Hallisey continued his hot start to 2014, which has seen him post 11 points in just four matches, by assisting on Jose Carrera-Garcia’s game-winning 76th minute goal. 

The honor is the Golden Bears’ 29th overall player of the week selection and the first for California this season.

The Golden Bears will be at home again this week, this time as a co-host of the Cal/Stanford Tournament. Cal will face Delaware on Friday, Sept. 19 at 3:30 p.m. PT, and SIU Edwardsville on Sunday, Sept. 21 at 1 p.m. PT.
