SAN FRANCISCO - The Pac-12 Conference announced UCLA’s Seyi Adekoya as the Pac-12 Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for games from Oct. 20-26.
Adekoya (Seattle, Wash.) scored the game-winning goal in UCLA’s 2-1 win over No. 4 WASHINGTON and tallied an assist in UCLA’s 2-1 victory over OREGON STATE to complete season sweeps for the Bruins over the Huskies and the Beavers. In the game at Washington, the freshman ran onto a lofted ball from Chase Gasper, and finished for a goal to seal the win for the Bruins. At Oregon State, Adekoya directed a through ball past two Beaver defenders and into the penalty area where forward Larry Ndjock finished what proved to be the game-winning goal.
The honor is Adekoya’s second of the season, and is the Bruins’ 56th all-time player of the week selection. For UCLA this is its second player of the week in consecutive weeks, and its third overall this season.
UCLA is back home this week and will face No. 11 STANFORD on Thursday, Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m. PT and No. 14 CALIFORNIA on Sunday, Nov. 2 at 11 a.m. PT. For more information and to view the 2014 television schedule, visit www.pac-12.com.
