Polyakova 2nd, Lenz 4th on 1-Meter on Day Two of Bruin Diving Invite

LOS ANGELES - Freshman Maria Polyakova had a strong second-place finish in Sunday's 1-Meter event, while sophomore Annika Lenz finished fourth during the second day of the Bruin Diving Invitational at Spieker Aquatics Center.

Three Bruins made the final of the event, as UCLA was running 1-2 after the preliminaries. Lenz recorded a total of 284.25 in her first six dives, with Polyakova just behind her at 282.20. Freshman Ciara Monahan posted a 248.70 score, ninth in the prelims, to also make the 1-Meter final. Sophomore Danni Repper was 30th with a total of 201.10.

In the final, Polyakova led throughout the final six dives, recording a score 313.00 for an overall total of 595.20. However, she was overtaken on the very last dive of the afternoon by Aimee Harrison of Hawai'i, who scored a 595.90. Lenz was fourth overall with a 570.60, totaling a 286.35 in the final. Monahan was 11th (485.20 total, 236.50 final).

The Bruin Diving Invitational concludes on Monday with the Women's and Men's Platform events, which get underway at 10 a.m.
