Partnership with Chevron highlighting student-athletes excelling in STEM-focused studies named ‘best use of integrated sponsorship for broadcast’

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (April 17, 2015) – Pac-12 Networks’ Chevron ‘Human Energy Stories’ campaign, highlighting Pac-12 student-athletes studying Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), was named ‘Best Use of Integrated Sponsorship for Broadcast’ at the Cynopsis Sports Media Awards held in New York Wednesday morning.

Other finalists in the category included campaigns from FOX Sports South, Intersport, Outside Television and Starcom MediaVest Group.

Created in partnership with Chevron, the campaign consisted of a series of custom content vignettes, featuring 12 current Pac-12 student-athletes sharing their stories of success, both on the field in their sport and off the field in their STEM-based studies.

This season’s vignettes, co-produced by Pac-12 Networks and Quarter 4 Media, featured a variety of Pac-12 student-athletes including former Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota (General Science), UCLA soccer player Sarah Killion (Psychology) and Oregon State basketball player Ruth Hamblin (Mechanical Engineering). The next round of vignettes will feature former Pac-12 student-athletes who currently work for Chevron in a STEM field.

As one of the leading media industry publications covering sports, cable and digital news, Cynopsis is in its fourth year honoring the best work in production, marketing and digital across the sports landscape. In addition to ‘Best Use of Integrated Sponsorship for Broadcast,’ Pac-12 Networks was nominated in four additional categories including website (Pac-12.com), overall social media excellence (Mascot Challenge), studio show (Pac-12 Football Gameday) and documentary series (The Drive: Pac-12 Football).

In March 2014, the Pac-12 forged a strategic partnership with Chevron, making it a sponsor of the Pac-12 Men’s Basketball Tournament, as well as the official Fuel and Integrated Energy sponsor of the Pac-12 Conference. Pac-12 Networks will continue to feature student-athletes and Chevron employees in new Chevron ‘Human Energy Stories’ across its seven linear networks, Pac-12.com and various social media channels for the next three years.
