Moore and Lilek earn weekly honors

May 11, 2015

SAN FRANCISCO—The battle for the top of the Conference last week resulted in this week's top players, as UCLA's Ty Moore and ARIZONA STATE's Brett Lilek were named the Pac-12 Player and Pitcher of the Week.

Moore, who earned the weekly honor for the second time this season, hit .389 with six RBIs and a .611 slugging percentage. He began the week with a double, a homer, and four RBIs against Pepperdine. In the series victory over the Sun Devils, he went 5-for-15 with two hits in the Friday win and another three in the Saturday clincher, which went 17 innings. Moore is fourth in the Pac-12 in hitting at .360 and second in RBIs with 46.

ASU avoided the sweep on Sunday, as following the five-hour and 50-minute marathon, Lilek pitched a three-hitter, struck out a season-high seven and walked one in a 2-1 victory. In his longest career outing, the lefthander retired the first 14 batters before a two-out single broke up the no-hitter in the fifth. Lilek is 4-2 with a 3.42 ERA this season.
