Popular Mechanics has been great at a lot of things since first being published in 1902, including being a go-to publication for all things tech, consumer electronics and everything science and gadget-related.

Today, they were super great at making the passionate Utah Utes fan base very, very irritated, and possibly giving head coach Kyle Whittingham some easy bulletin board material going into next Thursday's season opener.

You see, in the September issue of the magazine, their recurring "calendar" for September denotes that college football season begins Sept. 3. Awesome! But wait! What did you say about our Utes?

"College football season gets underway tonight with the University of Michigan in a cupcake game against Utah," the calendar entry reads.

Predictably, Utah Twitter reacted with reasonable angst. Perhaps while researching such interesting (and pretty awesome) web site articles like "What Happens When A Flaming Drone Hits A Propane Filled Balloon?," they forgot that Utah went to Michigan last year and came home with a dominating 26-10 victory.

This is how Utes fans got after Popular Mechanics on Twitter:

I guess we'll be seeing about this on Sept. 3, right?
