Nelson Spruce sets Colorado Football receptions record

Sep 12, 2015

While Saturday was all about the ground game for Colorado, one Buff set a record through the air.

With his third reception of Saturday's game against UMass, Nelson Spruce became the all-time receptions leader in school history. Spruce’s five-yard grab on the third play of the second half was the 216th reception of his collegiate career, surpassing the 215 hauled in by Scotty McKnight from 2007-10 in Boulder.

Spruce finished the game with six catches for 64 yards and a touchdown in Colorado's 48-14 win over UMass, increasing his career receptions total to 219. He also has 2,427 receiving yards, good for fifth in program history (he surpassed recent Buff Paul Richardson in the UMass game). He is 122 yards shy of breaking the record of 2,548 held by Michael Westbrook (1991-94).

Congrats, Nelson.
