Roundup: Washington's passing game poses big challenge to Alabama

Edward Aschoff of ESPN’s SEC Blog (roundup first!) writes that Washington’s passing game will be the biggest challenge of the season for Alabama. The Tide’s secondary is (sorta) susceptible to deep threats.


Michael Lev reports that Arizona quarterback Anu Solomon intends to transfer. According to Lev, Solomon will likely graduate before next season so he could play immediately elsewhere in 2017 as a graduate transfer.

Washington State

Washington State offensive lineman Cody O’Connell is now a unanimous All-American after being named First-Team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association. He is just the second Cougar to be named a unanimous All-American alongside kicker Jason Hanson.

Oregon State

Gina Mizell looks at the Oregon State women’s basketball national stat rankings in this link. The Beavs lead the Pac-12 and are third nationally in field goal percentage defense.


Currently suspended until spring 2017, the Stanford band is accusing the university of “sanitizing” the band in an effort to protect the university’s image in its appeal of the suspension (Deadspin).


USC women’s soccer midfielder Morgan Andrews was named a MAC Hermann Trophy finalist alongside Stanford’s Andi Sullivan and West Virginia’s Kadeisha Buchanan (there are no men’s finalists from the Pac-12, though maybe Andrew Epstein and Foster Langsdorf could have gotten some love).


Utah offensive lineman Isaac Asiata won the Morris Trophy, an award given to the best lineman in the Pac-12 (offensive and defensive), as voted upon by opposing linemen he went up against (defensive linemen vote for the best O-lineman, and vice versa). Kyle Goon has the story.


UCLA was picked to win the 2017 Pac-12 women’s gymnastics title in the preseason coaches’ poll, while Utah was picked to finish second.
