Danny Sutton Farrell Transferring To USC Men's Volleyball

LOS ANGELES--Danny Sutton Farrell, a 6-8 middle blocker at Loyola Chicago, is transferring to USC, Trojan men's volleyball head coach Jeff Nygaard announced today (July 1).

Farrell played in 7 matches for the Ramblers in 2020 as a redshirt freshman before he was slowed by an injury and then the season came to a premature end due to the coronavirus pandemic.  He hit .320 with 23 kills and 25 blocks.  He made the Midwest Volleyball Association All-Academic Team.  He redshirted the 2019 season as a first-year freshman and was named to the MIVA All-Academic Team.

He was a 3-year (2016-18) starter at Westlake High in Westlake Village (Calif.).  He made the 2018 All-Marmonte League second team as a 2018 senior when he hit .479 with 123 kills and 44 blocks.  As a 2017 junior, he was an All-Marmonte League second teamer.  He also played beach volleyball at Westlake.

He helped his RISE Volleyball Club team win a bronze medal in the 18 Open Division at the 2017 Junior Olympics.  He also spent time with the SMBC-Pali Volleyball Club.

He was on the 2016 USA Volleyball Men's Junior National A2 Training team, the 2017 and 2018 USA Volleyball Men's Junior National A1 Training team and participated in the 2016 USA Volleyball A-2 High Performance and Top 50 USA High Performance Holiday Camps.

His mother, Kimberly, played basketball (center) at Long Beach State (1979-82), including on the 49ers' 1982 NCAA Sweet 16 squad.
