Whidden Adds Dartmouth Graduate Transfer Kate White For 2021 Season

BOULDER — The Colorado lacrosse team has added another defender, graduate transfer Kate White, for the 2021 season, head coach Ann Elliott Whidden announced.
 
White joins the Buffs after playing the last four seasons at Dartmouth and will be attending graduate school in the fall. The Big Green was off to a 5-0 start this year and reached No. 9 in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association final poll. She played in a total of 33 games and earned 23 starts. In that time, she recorded 55 ground balls and 26 caused turnovers.
 
"We are really excited to add Kate to our program," Whidden said. "Kate and Dartmouth were off to an incredible start in her senior season. Our heart breaks for her, as it does for all the seniors who had their final year cut short. But we are so excited to be able to give her the opportunity to have one more season. Alex speaks so highly of Kate as a defender and person, we feel very lucky to be able to add Kate to our defense and expect her to make an immediate impact for us."
 
For her last season at Dartmouth, White played under the direction of first-year head coach Alex Frank, who was the associate head coach for the Buffs the prior four seasons. Frank is happy White will be continuing her lacrosse career with CU.
 
"Once we knew that our seniors were unable to continue their careers at Dartmouth, we were excited to support their future opportunities whether that be entering the workforce or pursuing a graduate degree and an opportunity to play at another university," Frank said. "I am happy that Kate White has chosen to attend the University of Colorado Boulder. She has worked tirelessly over the last four years in the classroom and on the lacrosse field, and I am pleased she is able to have an opportunity to continue to play. Having been coached by Kelsie Garrison and me, I have no doubt she will transition well into the Buffs system. I have the utmost respect for Ann Whidden and the University of Colorado Boulder and wish Kate continued success next year."
