Sophomore Transfer Joins Colorado Goalkeeper Picture

Aug 10, 2020

BOULDER – The battle to replace Jalen Tompkins, one of Colorado's all-time greats in net, just got a little more crowded. Buffaloes' head coach Danny Sanchez announced the addition of Washington transfer Dani Hansen on Monday.

The addition of Hansen means Colorado will have four goalkeepers on its roster, heading into the start of fall training that is set to begin on Saturday. Hansen joins redshirt freshmen Megan Short and Emma Miller and fellow newcomer freshman Rachael Black.

"Dani is a player we recruited heavily coming out of high school and we are very happy she has made her way back to Boulder, Sanchez commented. "She has some solid college experience in the Pac-12 and will fit in nicely with our goalkeeper competition this year."

Hansen, a 2017 Monarch High School graduate, made her collegiate debut for Washington in the second half of UW's 5-0 win over Seattle U in 2018. She started six matches for the Huskies in 2019, posting a 2-2-2 record. Hansen did not allow a goal for the first 256 minutes of the 2019 season and totaled shutouts against Portland, Seattle U and Denver. She made 17 saves in seven games and posted a .739 save percentage.

Hansen returns to her home state, having played with the Colorado ODP travel team before headed to the Pacific Northwest. She was named to the Region IV ODP All-Tournament Team and took part in the National id2 Training Camp and ECNL National Training Camp. Hansen helped backstop her Real Colorado club team to the ECNL finals in 2015 and 2016 and won the NPL championship in 2013.
