TROON, Scotland – The first round of the 2020 AIG Women's British Open was completed this morning at Royal Troon Golf Club.
All five Sun Devils competing at the LPGA major sit in the Top-90 in the field of 144 individuals heading into the second round, which will take place over the course of the evening on Thursday, Aug. 20 and into the morning of Friday, Aug. 21.
Anna Nordqvist (2007-09) had the best round of any Sun Devil, occupying a spot in the Top-5 after carding a 71 (E). Nordqvist is one of 10 competitors tied for fourth after 18 holes. She converted on four birdie chances, including three during a five-hole stretch in the middle of her round.

Azahara Munoz (2006-09) enjoyed a strong finish to her round (74), managing to pull into a tie for 33rd. She birdied four of her final 11 holes, going three-under during that span to help her move back up the leaderboard.
Linnea Strom (2016-17) sits just one stroke back of Munoz in a tie for 51st (75), finding consistency on the back nine. She was bogey-free over her final six holes, finishing even and improving her score by three strokes on the back nine.
The big stage and early start did not phase Sun Devil Women's Golf senior Olivia Mehaffey, as she started the AIG Women's Open with four consecutive pars. She would go on to par eight holes on the front nine, eventually recording her first birdie on 16. Mehaffey (77) is currently tied for 88th as one of only two amateurs in the field, with her counterpart Gabriella Ruffels (79) of USC ending the first round tied for 125th.
Joining Mehaffey in a tie for 88th is Carlota Ciganda (2009-11), who looks to carry over the momentum she built on the back nine of the first round. She played mistake-free golf over her final 10 holes, going even during that span to finish on a high note.
The second round of the 2020 AIG Women's Open begins tonight, with the first group teeing-off at 10:30 P.M. (MST). One Sun Devil begins their round tonight, with the other four starting tomorrow morning. Here is second round schedule for all five Sun Devils (All times MST):

Carlota Ciganda 11:25 P.M. (8/20)
Anna Nordqvist 12:31 A.M. (8/21)
Linnea Strom 1:42 A.M. (8/21)
Olivia Mehaffey 3:10 A.M. (8/21)
Azahara Munoz 4:38 A.M. (8/21)
