Caleb Johnson Selected UCLA Student-Athlete of Week

Nov 17, 2020

Linebacker Caleb Johnson of the UCLA football team has been selected the UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Ready, for Nov. 9-15.

Johnson, a redshirt junior from Murrieta, Calif., was one of seven UCLA players who registered four or more tackles in the Bruins' 34-10 win over California Sunday at the Rose Bowl. Of Johnson's four stops, 2.5 went for a loss of nine yards and he now ranks 18th nationally in tackles for loss per game (1.8). He also registered a sack for the second week in a row, bringing Golden Bear quarterback Chase Garbers to the ground during a second-half shutout by the UCLA defense. Johnson also teamed with fellow newcomer Qwuantrezz Knight on a first-half quarterback takedown to limit Cal to a field goal on its first drive. For good measure, Johnson intercepted a Garbers pass with 2:39 remaining in the second quarter to set up the Bruins' final touchdown of the first half.

This is Johnson's first UCLA student-athlete of the week award of the season and of his career.
