Dec 5, 2020

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- In her first collegiate event in nearly two years, Olympic hopeful Delaney Schnell took home the platform title on day 2 of the NAU Diving Invitational, winning the event by nearly 100 points.

Schnell collected 326.10 total points in her victory, nearly 100 points better than UCLA's Katelynn Shaheen, who finished runner-up with 229.20 total points. Gracie Sleeman (5th - 206.95) and Jacqueline Purwins (8th - 168.30) also finished in the top 10 in the event. Schnell took an Olympic redshirt last season while training for the Tokyo Olympics, which have been moved to the 2021 summer.

On the men's side, Arizona's two entries both finished on the podium in the 3-meter. Eric Correa collected his second straight runner-up finish, following up yesterday's 1-meter second-place performance with a second-place finish (349.95) in today's 3-meter. Bjorn Markentin placed third in the 3-meter with a score of 331.70.

Arizona's three combined podium finishers led all schools on day 2 of the event.

The NAU Diving Invite wraps up on Sunday morning in Flagstaff. The men will compete in the platform while the women will participate in the 1-meter. The events will begin at 10 a.m. and can be streamed live for free on NAU's Facebook Page.
