EUGENE, Ore. – No. 17 Oregon fell to Colorado 79-72 Thursday at the CU Events Center.
Chris Duarte led the Ducks (8-2, 3-1) with 27 points. McKinley Wright IV had 21 to pace Colorado (8-3, 2-2).
How it Happened: Colorado built a 12-6 lead early, converting four offensive rebounds into eight second-chance points. The Ducks used a 9-0 run capped by a Chandler Lawson three-pointer to take 15-12 lead with 11:29 left in the first half.
Oregon led by five, 24-19, with 4:21 left before Colorado took the halftime lead, 33-31. Eugene Omoruyi scored 12 points with five rebounds, while Duarte added 10 points.
Colorado opened the second half on a 14-2 run to take a 47-33 lead with 16:62 to play. The Ducks closed to within five with 6:36 left on Lawson's three-point play that made it 56-51 Buffalos.
Colorado then led by as many as 13 down the stretch before the Ducks got within four points late, 73-69, on a 16-7 run that was capped by Duarte's three-pointer. But Colorado held on for the win.
Who Stood Out: Duarte had six rebounds, four steals and two blocks to go along with his 27 points. Omoruyi had 18 points and six rebounds and LJ Figueroa added 10 points.
Notable: Freshman Jalen Terry was unavailable for Thursday's game.
