Utes in the NFL: Wildcard Preview, Regular Season Wrap-Up

SALT LAKE CITY – Ten former Utes are ready to head into postseason play as the NFL Wild Card weekend gets started on Saturday, Jan. 9 to determine who will play in the Divisional Round.

Multiple Utes landed at the top of their divisions this season, including rookie running back Zack Moss and the Buffalo Bills, who clinched the AFC East title after finishing the year on a six-game winning streak.

Alex Smith and Jared Norris helped Washington to the NFC East championship while Marcus Williams was key in the New Orleans Saints going 6-0 in the NFC South for their divisional title. Cody Barton and the Seattle Seahawks also earned the NFC West title after a 4-2 divisional record earned them a spot in the Wild Card round.

To end the regular season in the NFL, Utah had 32 former student-athletes representing the Utes, which included five practice squad members. Heading into the postseason, Utah has 13 total players between active rosters, practice squads and injured lists that represent teams in the playoffs.
