Goff/Rodgers Fest Saturday On Pac-12 Networks
BERKELEY – Former Cal quarterbacks Jared Goff and Aaron Rodgers are slated to become only the seventh pair of quarterbacks who finished their collegiate careers at the same school to start against each other in the NFL Playoffs when the Los Angeles Rams visit Green Bay on Saturday (1:35 pm PT – FOX) to open the Divisional Round.
Goff and Rodgers will also become the first two Cal quarterbacks to start against each other in an NFL playoff game and the first two from any school since USC's Mark Sanchez and the New York Jets were a 24-14 winner on the road against Carson Palmer and the Cincinnati Bengals on Jan. 9, 2010.
Goff and Rodgers are two of the five different Cal quarterbacks to start in a Super Bowl (more than any other school) with the others Vince Ferragamo, Joe Kapp and Craig Morton. Ferragamo finished his collegiate career at Nebraska after beginning at Cal.
Six former Cal players are affiliated with teams that have reached the Divisional Round this Saturday-Sunday. In addition to Goff and Rodgers, Cameron Jordan (New Orleans), Patrick Mekari (Baltimore), Mitchell Schwartz (Kansas City injured reserve) and Davis Webb (Buffalo practice squad) are also affiliated with Divisional Round teams.
Mekari and Webb are the next pair to face each other when Baltimore travels to Buffalo to close out Saturday's action (5:15 pm PT – NBC). On Sunday, Schwartz and Kansas City host Cleveland (12:05 pm PT – CBS) before Jordan and New Orleans wrap up the Divisional Round by welcoming Tampa Bay (3:40 pm PT – FOX).
