Parker, Villacorta Selected to MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List
UCLA seniors Lucy Parker and Viviana Villacorta have been selected to the MAC Hermann Trophy Women's Watch List for 2020-21.
The MAC Hermann Trophy, presented by World Wide Technology, is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer and is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female players of the year. This year's award was pushed back to accommodate the seasons affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Winners will be announced May 27 at the 2021 MAC Hermann Trophy Press Conference and Banquet taking place at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis, Mo.
Parker, a defender from Cambridge, England, picks up her second consecutive Watch List nod. In 2019, her first year at UCLA, she earned All-Pac-12 honors and was twice named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year. She led the team in minutes played with 2,055 out of 2,180 minutes and also scored four goals to rank fourth on the team. Parker has started in every game of her collegiate career, earning a total of 66 consecutive starts heading into the 2020-21 season. Prior to her transfer to UCLA, Parker played at LSU and was a United Soccer Coaches third-team All-American and first-team All-SEC honoree in 2018. Parker has played with England's Youth National Team program and helped lead its U-19 squad to the 2016 Women's International Cup. She was selected by Kansas City NWSL in the second round of the NWSL Collegiate Draft in January.
Villacorta, a midfielder from Lawndale, Calif., has played in every game of her UCLA career, making 60 starts in 71 appearances and totaling seven goals and 16 assists. In 2019, she scored three goals with a career-high eight assists and ranked fourth on the team in scoring with 14 points. Villacorta, a two-time All-Pac-12 honoree, was a starter for the U.S. at the 2018 FIFA U-20 World Cup. Earlier this month, she was selected by the Orlando Pride in the first round of the NWSL Collegiate Draft.
The MAC Hermann Trophy Watch Lists are compiled by members of the United Soccer Coaches Men's and Women's NCAA Division I All-America committees. Fifteen semifinalists will be named for both the men's and women's MAC Hermann Trophy at the end of April based on voting by Division I coaches and from those candidates, three finalists will be determined for the coveted award.
