Wildcats Close Out Day One of Texas Tech Shootout

LUBBOCK, Texas – Arizona Track and Field wrapped up the first day of the Texas Tech Shootout, the team's last regular season indoor meet, on Friday. The Cats tallied four PRs, two event wins and a meet and school record.



Highlights
Israel Oloyede improved his school record weight throw mark for a second time with a toss of 22.87m (75-0.5), also good for a first place finish and a Texas Tech Shootout meet record.

In her third collegiate race, Alyssa Blockburger won the 800m with a PR time of 2:10.46. On the men's side, Tanner Hagstrom ran the second-fastest 800m of his career with a time of 1:53.59. He placed seventh overall.

Both Trent Stimac and Trevor Volpe clocked PRs in the 60m dash with Stimac running 6.86 and Volpe clocking 6.94 in his first race of the season.

Shannon Meisberger was the top finisher in the 400m on the women's side with a time of 54.58 and a sixth place finish. On the men's side, Umajesty Williams placed fifth with a time of 47.11 and Johnnie Blockburger clocked 47.14 to finish sixth.

The Wildcats will compete again on Saturday for day two of the meet. Events will kick off at 10:00 a.m. MST with Samantha Noennig, Jordan Spradlin and Skylar Sieben in the women's shot put. Running events will follow at 12:00 p.m. MST with Shannon Meisberger, Alyssa Blockburger and Athena Montgomery in the 600 yd. race.
