Game Notes: Week 2

Coming off its season-opening win over Gonzaga on Feb. 7, the Ducks take to the road to play Sacramento State Friday at 3 p.m.

THE KICKOFF
• Sophomore Ally Cook scored her sixth career goal (third career game-winner) in Oregon's 1-0 win against Gonzaga.
• Making two saves versus Gonzaga, Leah Freeman became the first UO freshman goalkeeper to win a season opener since Jessie Chatfield in 2005.
• The Gonzaga game was Oregon's first match in exactly 15 months.
• Graeme Abel, the Ducks' fourth head coach in the modern era (1996-present), brings a pair of World Cup championships with him to Eugene after serving as an assistant coach for the U.S. National Team in 2015 and 2019.
• The Ducks return four of their top five goal scorers from last season: Jordan Wormdahl (7), Ally Cook (5), Zoe Hasenauer (4) and Maya Hahn (3).
• Oregon also welcomes Mountain West Player of the Year Lexi Romero, who transferred from Air Force following a freshman season in which she led the conference in goals (14) and points (33).
• During the offseason, the Ducks added the top goal scorer in the state of Oregon's history to the 2020 freshman class. Calllan   Harrington scored 133 goals in her career for Jesuit High School, one more than soccer Hall of Famer and U.S. National Team star Tiffeny Milbrett.
• Scoregon! Combined, Callan Harrington (Portland) and Jordan Wormdahl (Eugene) scored 200 goals in their Oregon high school careers. Adding in the scores by Paige Alexander (Salem), Maggie Lacey (Central Point), Rosie Larsen (West Linn) and Mia Palmer, (Portland), those six Ducks roster combined for more than 300 goals in their Oregon prep careers. 
• In the midfield, Oregon returns starters Chardonnay Curran, Zoe Hasenauer and Caitlin Shaw.
