Pac-12 Release

SAN FRANCISCO - For the second week in a row, the Pac-12 has named Gabbie Plain its Pitcher of the Week. This is Plain's fifth career Pitcher of the Week award and her eighth weekly honor from the Pac-12.

Last week, Plain went 3-0 in her four appearances, earning two shutouts in three starts. Plain struck out 37 batters in her 17.1 innings and has now struck out 24 of the last 32 batters she has faced. Plain has struck out multiple batters in 13 of her last 14 innings. She is now second in the nation in strikeouts, behind only Bowling Green's Payton Gottshall. Her ERA of 0.82 is almost a full run lower than any other Pac-12 pitcher to throw 20+ innings already.

Plain also became the tenth Husky ever to win 60 games in their career last week. Her 580 career strikeouts are eighth all-time, 19 behind Kaitlin Inglesby. One more shutout would make Plain the eighth Husky ever with 25 or more shutouts in their careers.

Only three Huskies have ever earned more weekly honors from the Pac-12 than Plain: Danielle Lawrie (18), Jennifer Spediacci (9), and Taran Alvelo (9). Plain joins Lawrie, Alvelo, Spediacci, Jamie Graves, and Eve Gaw as the only Huskies to earn Pitcher of the Week multiple times in multiple years.
